• Image of Experimental Alphabets w/ Jeremiah Chiu - Oct. 27

This class is for artists and designers wanting to design their own font, symbol set, or abstract language. The intention is to focus on meaning as much as making to develop stronger conceptual foundations for use in their own practices.

Jeremiah Chiu is a friend and collaborator of Sing-Sing. Jeremiah runs a hybrid creative studio called Some All None that produces experimental projects in graphic design, art, and music. Additionally, he is a Senior Design Lead at IN-FO.CO (formerly Project Projects) and a DJ on Dublab. His work has been exhibited at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, The Getty Center, the Cincinnati Contemporary Art Center, A+D Gallery at Columbia College, amongst others.

In this workshop, Jeremiah will present his work and influences and discuss his process of developing experimental alphabets through shape, color, and pattern. Participants will design and create their own alphabet/typeface and compose them into a piece (poster/book/animation/song/etc).

Join us for this 4-hour class focused on experimentation, language, and composition. No prior knowledge of typography or graphic design necessary—in fact, the less, the better!
